Jimmy and Steve McMichael started plumbing as teenagers, helping their dad in the family business. They both became licensed plumbers when they were young adults. They both still hold master plumbing license in Georgia. This eventually led to becoming septic installers and pumpers. Septic Solutions was formed in 1999. As of 2024 the brothers have pumped or repaired about 25,000 septic tanks and installed about 1000 septic systems on new homes.
